Minster of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan today received Mr. Thomas Eberherr, Head of Armenia office of German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). Minister Aramayis Grigoryan welcomed the guests and stressed the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Nature Protection and GIZ related to sustainable biodiversity management in the South Caucasus and expressed the hope for further active and effective cooperation.
In his turn Mr. Thomas Eberherr attaching importance to the active cooperation, represented the implementation of past and future course of actions in Armenia under the “Sustainable biodiversity management in the South Caucasus” program, as well as the opportunities for further cooperation with the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia. Further cooperation includes remote sensing in the management of forests and pastures field, using GIS information system and other innovative methods.
Minister A. Grigoryan attached importance to the instillation of GIS system in the management of forests and pastures field, stressed the importance of instillation of GIS system in specially protected areas also, which will give an opportunity to have fundamental data bases and expressed hope that in the frames of active cooperation the parties will be able to increase the effectiveness of specially protected area management.
