Events dedicated to the international day of the Ozone layer protection were held.

A number of events dedicated to the international day of the Ozone layer protection were held by Ozone National Center working under the subordination of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection jointly with the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on September 16-17.

The events were launched in “Boghossian Gardens” Park on September 16, at 19:30, where “Ozone layer protection: the mission is ongoing” a photo contest exhibition and award giving ceremony was held. The authors of the best recognized photos Anna Armenuhi Grigoryan (16 years old, “Healthy life” photo), Robert Harutyunyan (24 years old “One of the offenders” photo) and Nare Khachatryan (16 years old, “Let’s protect in order to be protected” photo) were awarded with bicycles.

The competition commission underlined specifically “Let’s protect the ozone layer” photo in which the schoolchildren of N105 high school in Malatia-Sebastia district formed the shape of O3 chemical formula and raised their hands to make their special call for the ozone layer protection. Accordingly, it was agreed to award them with the fourth bicycle envisaged as a prize. Protection of wild nature and cultural values foundation awarded 16 years old Lusine Torosyan the author of “Protect yourself by protecting ozone” photos a special prize: a photo camera.

There was “Save the world” open-air film screening for the participants in the park at 20:30.

A meeting was held in the RA Ministry of Nature Protection with the members of the RA Refrigerator Association on September 17, the objective of which was to evaluate the present state of the sector in relation to the release of gases destructing ozone because of equipments, reveal problems and pointed at collaboration ways with Ozone National Center under the subordination of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection. At the end of the meeting they agreed to present policy to conduct the mentioned issues within the short period of time.
