Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan participated in Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council First Session of the CIS member states (October 6-8, 2014) in Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus.
The election of the Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council President and the Co-president was held within the scope of the meeting. Discussions were organized among the CIS member states on collaboration development in the field of environment protection as well as the collaboration problems and perspectives.
Aramayis Grigoryan addressed the meeting representing the RA position on the role and activities of Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council mentioning:”The RA appreciates the role of Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council of the CIS member states and has emphasized the importance of uniting power of cooperating states for the implementation of environmental joint initiatives. The environmental protection is obviously the sector with the development of which may in its turn stimulate and influence the solution of numerous problems rising during the collaboration of our countries”. At the end of the session, 2015-2016 working plan of Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council and the charter of Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council Secretariat were presented. The participants attached significant importance to the agreement entering into force in the sector of environmental protection, at the same time emphasized that it is consonant with the main course and objectives of environmental policy of CIS member states.
At the end of the meeting the parties arranged the next session of Intergovernmental Nature Protection Council to be hold in Astana in 2015.
