Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan had a meeting with the diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of Armenia and other officials. At the meeting “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs)” the RA document adopted by the Republic of Armenia within the scope of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) ahead of the Conference in Paris at the end of the year was considered. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Bernhard Matthias Kiesler, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland, Mr. Lukas Gasser, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Tian Erlong, International Aid/Cooperation Officer of the EU Delegation, John Barker and diplomats of the Russian Federation, the United States of America, Japan, Iran, India, Romania, Lithuania participated in the event.

Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan stated in his speech: “The RA document on “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs)” under the UNFCCC was approved by the Government and was submitted to the Convention Secretariat according to the defined order on September 28”. The document was developed by the representatives of local self-government, international and non-governmental organizations; discussions and public awareness meetings were organized”. The document was approved by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the UNFCCC. Moreover it was considered at public hearings.

Minister of Nature Protection informed the diplomatic corps that the intended activities correspond to the RA strategic plan (2015-2025), furthermore, they will improve social-economic sphere. He noted in his speech: “Climate change and their perilous effects are a real threat. Thus all the countries must undertake activities to avoid further irrevocable consequences. I am looking forward to bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Your countries and international organizations and I do hope that joint efforts will be productive at the Conference in Paris as well as during the implementation period”. Asya Muradyan, Head of Department of Protection Policy of Climate Change and Atmosphere presented the main thesis of “Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs)” under the UNFCCC.

At the discussion the attendees reflected upon global climate change and activities undertaken to prevent it. The diplomats were told that Armenia will be for neutral emissions of greenhouse gas through ecosystem approach by 2050. International Aid/Cooperation Officer of the EU Delegation John Barker appreciated the completed works stating that Armenia will be among the countries to be ready for the Conference in Paris and the countries as regarding to the ones implementing the responsibilities under the INDCs in the due manner. RA Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan thanked the participants for the collaboration and hoped that effective cooperation will expend thus reducing the consequences of global warming.
