Andreas Wetzel, KfW Environmental Project Coordinator was on a working visit to Armenia within the scope of projects were discussed related to biodiversity preservation and specially protected areas in Armenia realized by the RA Ministry of Nature Protection and the German Development Bank /KfW/.
Andreas Wetzelvisited Zangezur Biosphere Complexto observe the works carried out within the framework of programs on specially protected areas, met Syunik Regional administrative officials, the representatives of the RA MNP EPIU and other interested parties to consider the outputs and perspectives of joint programs.
Mr Wetzel had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan. Greeting the guest, the latter noted: “Ministry of Nature Protection highly appreciates the partnership with KfW in the form of various financed programs. The partnership has had a positive shift in effective preservation and management of specially protected areas and skills development which is reflected in the establishment of Arpie Leach National Park. Referring to Zangezur Biosphere Complex, we are sure that the program will have the desired outcomes in the near future.
Mr Wetzel thanking for the reception expressed his positive opinion over Zangezur Biosphere Complexand hoped that current activities and invested resources will have tangible results. He emphasized the sustainable management of biodiversity of protected areas and economic progress of adjacent territories.
At the meeting the parties discussed several issues concerning the funds financed by KfW.
