Issues were considered on equal access to water, global and regional procedures and initiatives at the international session

RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan partook in the session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol on Water and Health to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.
Deputy Minister noted in his speech that the Republic of Armenia signed, but the Protocol on Water and Health has not yet been ratified. Though our country has already illustrated tree national reports concerning the condition and developments of spheres under the protocol submitting them to the Secretariat.
   Kh.Hakobyan stated: “The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe /the UNECE/ and Government of France assisted Armenia to  conduct assessments of  the present condition and target settings  in 9 districts as well as development of a roadmap for ratification of  the Protocol. At present, Armenia updates the national targets and target dates; the latter will be approved by the RA GoA protocol decree and the support of the UNECE is pivotal in this process.
At the session issues on equal access to water, global and regional procedures and initiatives were discussed.
