The RA Ministry of Nature Protection envisages to make “Basalt organ” natural monument of Garni more attractive for tourists


A workshop was held at RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan; Arman Vermishyan, RA National Coordinator of Caucasus Nature Fund /CNF/, A. Sahakyan, Garni Community Leader of RA Kotayk Region, relevant heads of Bioresources Management Agency of RA MNP Staff, thus officers of engineering companies were engaged.

At the meeting issues referring to the road from Garni temple to “Basalt organ” (basalt pillars) natural monument and Visitor Centre of “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve, drafts of corresponding subdivisions as well as management model for areas were considered.

Putting a high value on ecotourism progress, Kh. Hakobyan suggested to present project development opportunities in the course of the next meeting.

Additionally, they reflected upon mapping and passport of “Basalt organ” /Symphony of Stones/ natural monument of Garni within the scope of ongoing projects of CNF.
