Issues were considered related to establishing a national center for biodiversity preservation and environmental education on the bases of Yerevan Botanic Garden

A workshop chaired by RA Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan was held at the ministry, the agenda included the following issue; creating a national center for biodiversity preservation and environmental education on the bases of Botanic Garden of Yerevan. Researchers of Institute of Botany of the RA National Academy of Sciences led by Director Zhirayr Vardanyan, RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan, Advisor to the Minister Areg Gharabegyan, Head of Environment Protection Policy Division of the RA MNP Staff Gagik Manucharyan attended the meeting.    

The provision of establishing a center is envisaged in the RA GoA program besides other issues related to nature protection; a three-year period has been defined in order to accomplish the latter. In the course of the meeting they referred to the center status, eco education as well as ecotourism development perspectives.

 “The centerwill be created with the objective to have a strong, powerful, up-to-date, scientific innovation centre focused on providing an awareness-raising as well as recreational factor for the public. I am sure, that the implementation of the project will be beneficial for both nature protection sector and other organizations involved in''; RA Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan notably stated in his speech, adding, that the issue will also be considered at the first session of Scientific-Technical Council alongside the RA Ministry of Nature Protection. While developing a draft, the partakers attached significance to conducting research into international models of similar centres. Leading an effective discussion, an arrangement was made for further meetings as well as collaborative work in order to develop a constructive plan.
