Cooperation between the RA Ministry of Nature Protection and American Councils for International Education

American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS office in Armenia organized study abroad program for a group of students of Warren Wilson Collage (May 24-June 6). The students of Warren Wilson Collage, one of the best colleges having environmental orientation arrived in Armenia to have a two-week internship. The American Councils hosted the students of Warren Wilson Collage for the second time. The first group arrived to Armenia in summer /2015/. The guests conducted a visit to the specially protected areas of nature under the RA Ministry of Nature Protection.

Prior to the visit, the group wanted to meet and hold discussions with the executives of the departments implementing state environmental policy. The first meeting of American Councils for International Education took place at the RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan.

Kh. Hakobyan along with the Director of American Councils for International Education Karen Leigh Smith and Program Coordinator of ACTR/ACCELS office in Armenia Nane Abrahamian considered the current status of cooperation, outlined the visit agenda; moreover the mechanisms directing the contiued cooperation were referred to.

The next meeting took place at the office of American Councils for International Education. Chief Specialist of Ecotourism Development Division of the RA MNP Bioresources Management Agency V. Sargsyan was engaged; the latter submitted the functions of the RA Ministry of Nature Protection to the group of students and lecturers of Warren Wilson Collage, thus particularly presented ecotourism development prospects in Armenia. The discussion was held between the specialists of the RA MNP and students on existing problems in nature protection sector.
