On July 20 the session on interdepartmental council implementing Stockholm Convention on “Persistent Organic Pollutants” was held under the chairmanship of Director on Council, RA Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan at the ministry. In the course of the session there was reported back the projected activities under National Implementation Plan for Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants for 2016-2020, as well as the status of UNDP-GEF full-sized Project: “Elimination of Obsolete Pesticide Stockpiles and Addressing POPs Contaminated Sites within a Sound Chemicals Management Framework in Armenia” and “Best Available Techniques and Best Environmental Practices (BAT/BEP) for the elimination of unintentionally produced POPs releases” project were submitted. Director of Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies of the RA National Academy of Sciences Armen Saghatelyan presented the center effectiveness directed to implementing “Stockholm Convention”, also apropos of functioning of “Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment” (AWHHE) NGO.
