The first Asia-Pacific Ministerial Summit on the Environment took place

On the invitation of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia Erik Grigoryan had a participation in the high-level segment (HLS) of the first Asia-Pacific Ministerial Summit on the Environment held in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 6-8, 2017.

The meeting took a note of environmental matters of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

The RA First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan delivered a speech, by addressing the ministerial statement draft and emphasized that environmental challenges must be tackled along with economic and social issues.

The RA First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection submitted progress on the implementation of project in Armenia, which is the 10th globally and the first one in the Eurasian regionfunded by Green Climate Fund.

He also stressed that nowadays, both economic and social spheres will benefit from investments in environmental protection sector.

During the Summit E. Grigoryan had separate meetings with Executive Director of UN Environment, Minister of the Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Singapore, Vice Ministers of Environment of Japan and Korea, heads of delegations of China, Iran, Australia, Mongolia, Permanent Representatives to the UN and other officials.
