Armenia’s National Ozone Unit organized 2017 wrap-up meeting

On December 22-23, 2017, the wrap-up meeting of 2017 year and the stakeholder meeting were held in Tsaghkadzor within the framework of HCFC Phase-out project (Stage II), organized by the National Ozone Unit under the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia. The meeting was attended by RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Khachik Hakobyan, UNIDO Country representative Anahit Simonyan, as well as the officers of UNDP in Armenia, RA SRC, Ministries of Education and Science, Emergency Situations of Armenia, Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia, Department of International Cooperation, Information and Public Relation Department,  Department of Environmental Protection Policy, Department of Environmental Strategic Programs and Monitoring, Waste and Atmosphere Emissions Management Agency of the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA, and Armenian Refrigeration Association.
The first day of the meeting started with the opening speech of the National Ozone Unit Coordinator Liana Ghahramanyan and followed by the submission of the investment and non-investment components of the HCFC Phase-out Project (Stage II). Afterwards, the Unit’s 2017 main activities per sectors were summarized. The first day of the meeting ended with the wrap-up session (questions and answers) after which the participants had an opportunity to enjoy the evening and continue discussions in a free format, thus making a contribution to the effectiveness of the next day’s teamwork.
On December 23, Kigali Amendment, its objectives, preconditions and Armenia's position over this issue were presented to the participants.  Then, the partakers were divided into thematic working groups to discuss and develop new programs, suggestions, ideas and possible solutions to existing problems. Each group selected its secretary and rapporteur, who illustrated the results on behalf of their group at the plenary session. As a result of the discussions, new terms of cooperation were outlined.
