Acting Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Armenia Ulrik Tideström and Martin Fredriksson, the embassy’s Chargé d'affaires ad interim.
Erik Grigoryan congratulated Ulrik Tideström on assuming his diplomatic mission in Armenia and expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of environmental protection will be expanded and intensified in the future.
The Ambassador emphasized that after assuming office, the meetings along with government agencies, firstly he embarked on a meeting with the Ministry of Nature Protection, signifying the cooperation over environmental issues.
In the course of the meeting, a reference was made to global environmental bottlenecks, specifically, the issues concerning climate change and single use plastic, for addressing thereof, Armenia is also actively engaged in international procedures.
At the request of the Ambassador, Minister Erik Grigoryan presented the policy conducted in environmental protection sector, the main directions and targets of undertaken reforms. The Acting Minister of Nature Protection underscored the rich experience of Sweden in the field of forest management and solid waste management and attributed importance to practical steps for its introduction into Armenia.
Ulrik Tideström extended a vote of thanks for the reception and confirmed his country's readiness to back the reforms undertaken by Armenia in the sphere of environmental protection.
