  Mindful of the importance of the primary component- the environmental component- of the project, in his opening remarks, Acting Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan emphasized that it is the best example of combining environmental, economic and social benefits. Erik Grigoryan extended a vote of thanks to Yerevan Municipality and UNDP Resident Representative ad interim in Armenia Dmitry Mariyasin for fruitful cooperation, stressing that the cooperation with UNDP has gained a fresh momentum and upcoming projects will ensure more tangible and real results in the near future.;
In his speech, First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Hrachya Sargsyan expressed gratitude for the cooperation and noted that the results of the implemented project were visible and were appreciated by the citizens.
  UNDP Resident Representative ad interim in Armenia Dmitry Mariyasin highly valued the successful project fulfillment and the establishment of economic mechanisms in a bid to continue the procedures within its scopes.
   Over the five years of the project implementation, modernization of 59km of street lighting has been accomplished in 18 communities; LED light bulbs ensured at least 60% efficiency. In general, 2990 light-emitting diode bulbs were installed, which provided 1986 MWh of power per year, or saving 89 million AMD, thus reducing approximately 1,000 tonnes of CO2, which has exceeded required environmental performance. The entire system of the Ministry of Nature Protection, as well as the road which leads to Sevan Peninsula were also provided with LED lamps.
