Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan received Project Manager of the German Development Bank (KfW) Alvaro Berriel and KfW Bank Armenian Representative Zara Chatinyan. During the meeting the sides discussed current and prospective programs of the cooperation.
Additionally, the parties discussed the start-up of EUR 23.2 million worth grant allocated to Armenia by KfW for the development of biodiversity and forest sector, as well as already implemented “Support Program for Protected Areas-Armenia” (SPPA-A) project amounts to 8.25 million euros. On the margins of thereof, in 2018, the Ministry of Nature Protection supervised activities with up to one million euros, directed to reducing the pressure on forests.
Minister Erik Grigoryan made a point of the cooperation with the German partners in the direction of integrated environmental policy reform and infrastructure buildout measures undertaken by the Ministry, in the context of which the issues regarding water resource management, specially protected areas of nature and forest management, improvement of expertise process and capacity building were considered.
