Armenia and Germany deepen cooperation in the field of environmental protection


Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan received the delegation headed by Officer of the German  Federal Ministry  for  Economic Cooperation  and  Development (BMZ) Daniel Haas , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia  Bernhard Matthias Kiesler, KfW Regional Office Director for South Caucasus Klaus Weigel, Bank’s Project Manager  Alvaro Berriel, accompanied by KfW and GIZ representatives in Armenia.
The meeting took a note of the process of providing budget assistance to Armenia by the German Development Bank (KfW), addressed to ongoing reforms in the sphere of environmental protection for 2019-2020. The reform targets and anticipated results were observed.
Minister of Nature Protection Erik Grigoryan, submitting the measures  in a bid to strengthen biodiversity conservation, integrated  monitoring and permitting systems, legislative and institutional amendments  in expertise processes, stated that their primary objective is to increase the environmental efficiency and to reduce sectorial corruption risks.
The sides also referred to the status of implementation of 97 road maps developed by the Ministry of Nature Protection for approximation of over 30 environmental instructions in the frames of EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
