Joint environmental projects to deepen cooperation between Armenia and Japan


Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Jun Yamada discussed cooperation issues in the direction of restoring  the ecological balance of Lake Sevan and addressing other environmental issues. The Ambassador illustrated the case of overcoming  algal bloom phenomenon observed in Lake Biwa of Japan, and suggested sharing the experience of Japanese specialists with Armenia in solving the problem.
Also, the Minister of Environment referred to the cooperation of the two countries focused on enhancing the monitoring system, reducing the use of mercury, forest management and other environmental issues, attaching importance to both productive implementation of current projects and the launch of new ones.
    Ambassador Jun Yamada expressed willingness to provide effective assistance in the implementation of joint projects of the two countries in the sphere of environmental protection.
