A grant project is implemented under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia in a bid to phase out mercury-added products (lamps, thermometers, etc.), thereby subsequently banning their use in Armenia. The necessary legal basis will be developed, public awareness-raising activities on harmful impacts of mercury will be held within the framework of envisaged actions. In the context of launched works, the first meeting of the Steering Committee of "Strengthening capacity to promote phasing out of mercury-added products in Armenia" project took place in the Ministry of Environment. The project is implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body was defined as a subordinate body to the Government by the RA law on “State administration system bodies” adopted on March 23, 2018, thus citizens may send their calls and applications to the Head of the Inspection Body (Address: 46 Charenc, Yerevan, tel. 011-81-85-92).
