On November 4-8, at the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the workshop on quality assurance of the national greenhouse gas inventory management systems and national greenhouse gas inventory of Armenia was launched.
Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan, Dmitry Mariyasin, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia, officers of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Ministry of Environment and of other institutions attended the event.
In her speech, Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan referred to the commitments assumed by Armenia, the legislative adjustments and the ratified agreements, which are directed to the national greenhouse gas inventory management. In this context, Irina Ghaplanyan reflected upon the actions undertaken by Armenia, notably the mechanisms of the investment system, inclusive of the continued improvement of the GHG national inventory report as a key component of measurement and certification.
Also, representatives and experts of national greenhouse gas inventory development and of greenhouse gas emission assessments: waste, forest land, agriculture, energy and other spheres. The event took a note of assessment and analysis of transparency of the GHG inventory management system, other issues of increasing efficiency, envisaged action priorities.
