Erik Grigoryan participates in the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP 25) to the United Nations Framework Convention to Combat Climate Change (UNFCCC)

Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan left for Madrid, Spain’s capital, to participate in the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP 25) to the United Nations Framework Convention to Combat Climate Change (UNFCCC).
In the scope of COP-25, Erik Grigoryan to participate in the high-level  segment meeting, the World Climate Summit and the Sustainable Innovation Forum 2019.
The Summit of the Conference of the Parties (COP 25) to the United Nations Framework Convention to Combat Climate Change (UNFCCC) aims to strengthen the high level involvement of party states in executing political actions. The international platform also enables presenting the unique vision of how stakeholders will work together to face this urgent  challenge. The  COP 25 participants will discuss action plans that will significantly reduce environmental pollution and prevent climate change.
 Also, the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP 25) to the United Nations Framework Convention to Combat Climate Change (UNFCCC) envisages a number of bilateral meetings.
On the margins of the Sustainable Innovation Forum, exchange of ideas on climate mitigation projects and introduction of new financial mechanisms are scheduled.

 

 

The Republic of Armenia ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on May 14,  1993, being  as Non-Annex I Party to this Convention. On December 26, 2002,  the Republic of Armenia ratified the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement on February 9, 2017.
 Under the Paris Agreement, the countries have pledged to keep global temperature increases within the 1.5-to-2-degree Celsius range, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by 2030 and reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
