Irina Ghaplanyan received the delegation headed by the Kingdom of Sweden

Today, Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan received the delegation led by Johannes Oljelund, Director-General for International Development Cooperation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss the development prospects of the cooperation with the Kingdom of Sweden in the spheres of environment and nature protection.
Deputy Minister of Environment Irina Ghaplanyan  submitted the status of reforms performed in the sphere of environmental policy in our country to Mr. Oljelund, meanwhile highlighting the necessity of deepening the cooperation between the two countries.
 In particular, Irina Ghaplanyan briefed the Swedish delegation on the process of projects and activities addressed to waste reduction, water resource management, responsible mining and the introduction of new environmental infrastructures.
Oljelund expressed readiness to convey the successful experience already applied in their country to the Armenian side. Dwelling on the main issue of climate change, the high-ranking guest stressed the importance of the exchange of experience  between the two countries.
Irina Ghaplanyan extended a vote of thanks to Mr. Oljelund, advising that Armenia is going to prohibit the use of plastic bags by 2023, emphasizing that the Armenian side will be happy to study the Swedish experience in this procedure as well.
In attendance were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Armenia and Georgia, H.E. Mr. Ulrik Tideström, Johan Ndisi, Deputy Director-General for International Development Cooperation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden,Ilva Hammarsten, Representative of Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of  the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Minister-Counsellor, Charge d’Affaires Birger Karlsson of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden Birier Carlson.
