Levon Aghasyan was appointed a member, national focal point of the World Commission on Protected Areas

On January 27, 2020, Levon Aghasyan, representing Armenia was appointed a member and national focal point of the World Commission on Protected Areas by  the IUCN WCPA.On November 11-14, 2019, there took place the regional workshop for the achievement of Aichi Biodiversity Target 11 in Eastern Europe and Central Asia in Belgrade (Republic of Serbia).
The objective of the workshop is to enhance the national capacities in the management of specially protected areas of nature (SPAs), conservation, use and reproduction of biodiversity and biological resources.
Director of Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, Legal Adviser to the Minister of Environment Levon Aghasyan, representatives of other regional intrested organizations were among the participants.  
In the course of the seminar, Levon Aghasyan submitted the process of implementation of the obligations assumed by the Convention, the current state of biodiversity of Armenia and the prospects for its development, as well as the steps directed to the development and introduction of a regional database.
