Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Armenia Ulrik Tideström.
Greeting the Ambassador, Minister Erik Grigoryan noted that the two countries have great prospects for expanding cooperation within the framework of the policy performed in the sphere of environmental protection.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed development of the roadmap of the action plan for approximation of the EU directives on the principles of extended producer responsibility (EPR).
The main problems of Lake Sevan and the creation of integrated information system for online receiving of flow meter data were also on the agenda of the meeting. As a result of the introduction of the information system, a platform will be created to promote water resource accounting, supervision of actual water consumption and awareness raising.
Ambassador Tideström expressed gratitude for the invitation, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experience between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the sides also referred to the cooperation in the sphere of consistent management of chemical substances, including the drafting of projects for establishing contaminated soil cadaster.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Irina Ghaplanyan, Birger Karlsson, Minister-Counsellor, Chargé d’Affaires a. i. of the Embassy of Sweden in Yerevan.
