The objective of the event was to present a number of reforms undertaken and presently in progress by the Ministry of Environment in the spheres of legislative regulation, sustainable forest management and biodiversity and preservation of specially protected areas of nature (SPAs) to the stakeholder partners. The basis and precondition for the reforms was "Policy-based lending - Environmental protection" loan agreement signed on November 11, 2019, between the Republic of Armenia and the German Development Bank (KfW).
In attendance were the heads of specialized subdivisions and SNCOs of the Ministry of Environment, officers of interested agencies, regional administrations, international development agencies and non-governmental organizations.
In the course of the meeting, sector specialists submitted legislative and institutional reforms regarding the environment, biodiversity conservation, management of specially protected areas of nature (SPAs), sustainable development of forests, remarkably prevention of illegal cutting of trees and measures to increase efficiency of forest use, forestation and reforestation.
