Today, Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan had a meeting with the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus Vitaly Drozhzha. In the course of the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, mainly related to forest restoration, forest management and afforestation. Minister Grigoryan presented the "10M" project to Vitaly Drozhzha, in the frames of which it is envisaged to plant 10 million trees in Armenia on October 10. Minister Grigoryan emphasized the importance of exchanging the rich experience of Belarusian partners with the Armenian side. Vitaly Drozhzha expressed willingness to assist Armenia in both the exchange of experience and in other phases of reforestation activities.
Note, that more than 40% of the whole territory of the Republic of Belarus is woodland. Over 35.000 employees are involved in forestry. By submitting Belarus's achievements in reforestation, Minister Drozhzha also stressed that annually over 200 million trees are planted in Belarus. Tomorrow, on March 13, the opening ceremony of the Armenian-Belarusian Friendship Forest will take place in Gegharkunik region. Belarus provided Armenia with 50,000 seedlings and professional assistance for planting the forest. During the opening ceremony there will also take place a tree planting, which will be attended by Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan, Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan and Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus Vitaly Drozhzha.
