In the previous year, by dint of the funds allocated from the state budget, “ArmForest” SNCO supervised unprecedented volume of afforestation activities. On May 2, Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan and Deputy Minister Vardan Melikyan conducted a visit to forest enterprises of Lori and Tavoush regions, summed up the large-scale works performed in 2019 along with the workers of “ArmForest” SNCO. In the spring and autumn of 2019, around 70,000 trees were planted in “ArmForest” SNCO’s “Voskepar” forest enterprise, Noyemberyan community, Tavoush region. 120 seasonal workers participated in the works, planting 35,000 oak trees, 15,000 ash trees, 15,000 maple trees and 5,000 apple trees in the one particular forestry.
Also, Minister Grigoryan got acquainted with the accomplished works envisaged for the ongoing reforestation in the highlands of Tavoush region, in collaboration with the staff of “ArmForest” SNCO partook in planting seedlings with a closed root system, in the course of which new equipment was used for the first time, which significantly simplifies the process of afforestation.
Afterwards, Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan paid a visit to Vanadzor forest enterprise of “ArmForest” SNCO. The Minister familiarized himself with the forest cuttings planted in the period of 1997-98 and 2008, which are now part of Vanadzor forestry. Sectorial specialists presented the characteristics of forest growth, current problems and possible solutions to the Minister.
At the proposal of foresters, a number of innovative mechanisms were considered, according to which the waste, which is neither timber or firewood, can be recycled and consumed as a briquette or even natural raw material-rich fodder.
Earlier, by means of the funds of the state budget and “ArmForest” SNCO, in 2019 ArmForest” SNCO of Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment implemented over 150 hectares of forest restoration, of which 140 hectares - by planting and 10 hectares - by sewing.
In 2020, it is envisaged to fulfill about 150 hectares of reforestation. At the same time, the 15th anti-crisis program adopted by the government was launched, on the margins of which it is planned to plant about 2 million cuttings of willow trees in the coastal areas of the rivers.
