Acting Deputy Minister of Environment Vardan Melikyan today met with officers of a number of international non-governmental organizations to consider issues apropros of 2020 hunting season launching in August, setting a great store on wildlife census.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology, environmental and hunting associations.
The concept of joint efforts in wildlife census of Armenia was on the agenda, according to which the beneficiary structures will have the opportunity to take part in wildlife census - which has not been accomplished for years - thus ensuring completeness, reliability and comprehensiveness of the information.
The meeting attendees identified the primary issues concerning the census through questions and answers, outlined the priorities and directions of joint work. The representatives of hunting organizations expressed willingness to take part in the census process on a voluntary basis.
In the course of the meeting, the participants presented several proposals, which, among other discussed issues, will be surveyed by the professional subdivisions of the Ministry of Environment.
