With reference to commercial fishing of whitefish in Lake Sevan  


There took place a working discussion in “Sevan” national park SNCO with the participation of Acting Deputy Minister of Environment Vardan Melikyan.
Vardan Melikyan touched upon the procedure of issuing commercial fishing permits of whitefish in Lake Sevan, the permissible fishing quantities, the order and the conditions of  submitting applications for fishing permits, raising awareness among the population and other issues.
The discussion was attended by Acting Director of “Sevan” national park SNCO Arayik Hunanyan, Deputy Head of the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources  Vrezh Galoyan, a number of specialists of “Sevan” national park "SNCO of the Ministry of Environment, Gegharkunik regional administration.  Sectorial specialists came up with their propositions and concerns regarding the fight against illegal fishing, bringing them to the legal field, and a number of other issues.
At the discussion, the issues of technical upgrading of conservation workers, as well as the joint actions of "Sevan" NP, Gegharkunik regional administration,  the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources  and the Police were considered.
Earlier, a few days ago Acting Minister of Environment Vahe Jilavyan, and Acting Deputy Minister Vardan Melikyan toured Tsovagyugh community of Gegharkunik region to meet with fishers and raise awareness on the government's new decree. The objective of the legislative initiative is to streamline  the use of bioresources and sustainable management in Lake Sevan.
