Under “Sectoral investment planning and comparative analysis of costs and benefits” component of the EU-funded “European Union for Environment” (EU4Environment) initiative, UNEP assists in assessing the investment needs for specific green growth areas/sectors which will help the country to identify national investment gaps and to provide recommendations for a financing strategy.
On the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, a preliminary analysis of the introduction of Deposit Refund System (DRS) for plastic, glass, paper and aluminum containers in the republic was supervised.
In a bid to advance the application of the system, an economic analysis of the introduction of Deposit Refund System (DRS) model (based on international experience) is envisaged, as a result of which the most relevant recommendations would be identified for the country.
