Econews.am environmental information platform warns of illegal hunting of bears in the gorge of Yeghegis

By the urgent instruction of Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, relevant letters will be sent to the RA Police and the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources  to survey the case in details and to clarify the circumstances.
The representatives of the Ministry have already contacted Vayots Dzor Regional Department of the RA Police, an investigation is underway.
It is unacceptable to encroach on any RA Red Book-listed animal. The Ministry of Environment condemns similar treatment of animals.
We remind you that the RA Criminal Code envisages criminal liability for killing a brown bear listed in the Red Book of animals of the Republic of Armenia.
 A fine in the amount of 400-600 minimal salaries,
or arrest for 2-3 months with compensation of 1 to 5 million AMD.
