The officers of Gegharkunik Regional Department of the Police have defined round-the-clock strict control over all forest roads adjunct Lake Sevan, and checkpoints have been set up. Also, inspections are supervised in the markets and roads of Yerevan to prevent the sale of whitefish of Lake Sevan.
The RA Police, the Ministry of Environment, Gegharkunik Regional Administration, the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources and "Sevan" national park have been holding round-the-clock special measures at Lake Sevan since December 25.
In the frames of the measures, the responsible persons of the agencies met with the heads of the cities in the vicinity of Lake Sevan, fishers as well. They were briefed of the goal of the measure and actions focused on banning whitefish fishing at Lake Sevan within the period of natural reproduction of whitefish. In this context, all kind of fishing appliance, swimming means, and fishers’ temporary lodgings were withdrawn from “Sevan” national park. All fishing appliances will be prohobitted at Lake Sevan area.
