The officers of Gegharkunik Regional Department of the Police have defined round-the-clock strict control over all forest roads adjunct Lake Sevan, and checkpoints have been set up. Also, inspections are supervised in the markets and roads of Yerevan to prevent the sale of whitefish of Lake Sevan.

Due to the period of natural reproduction of whitefish, within the framework of reinforcing the prohibition over the end of the industrial fishing season at Lake Sevan, the special guard unit of "Sevan" national park has already taken the process of withdrawing and destroying fishers’ illegal fishing nets since December 25, 2020.
