Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan started the working week, conducting a visit to “Environmental Project Implementation Unit” of the Ministry of Environment. The Minister introduced the new Acting Director of “Environmental Project Implementation Unit” Mikael Khachatryan to the staff, and held a consultation with the staff on the upcoming activities and the directions of the office's activities in 2021.

There is a problem of increasing the efficiency of water resources management
Prior to the launch of the new working year, Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan outlined the working directions that require utmost attention to the environment in 2021, including the issue of efficient changes in the water sector.
Clarification
In response to the post (January 12, 2021) of "Environmentalist’s House" initiative on the Facebook social network over tree felling in the area from Lermontovo village to Vanadzor, we inform that sanitary logging place has been operated since October 8, 2020, on the basis of 01728 deforestation ticket. In spring of 2020, due to heavy snow and strong winds in 2 and 3, 4, 12, 20, 140 forest areas, more than 314 common pine trees were snow-covered, and some of them were wind-whipped (photos attached).

The Minister held a meeting-consultation with the staff of the SNCO regarding the draft law on the amendment to the RA Law on Environmental Impact Assessment and Expertise , the status of the EIA Institute and the further course of activities. The establishment of the EIA Institute is one of the top three primary and most pivotal issues of the Ministry of Environment, which must be addressed in 2021.

Supervised studies in "Vanadzor Forestry" of “ArmForest” SNCO
In a bid to clarify the issue voiced by "Environmentalist’s House" NGO, by the special instruction of the Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, a group of workers of “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO, the Committee of Forest and "ArmForest" SNCO supervised surveys in 4th and 14th forest units of the 2nd square of Khndzorut forest enterprise of "Vanadzor Forestry" branch of "ArmForest" SNCO (in the vicinity of Lermontovo village of Vanadzor-Dilijan highway).
