On November 4-8, at the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the workshop on quality assurance of the national greenhouse gas inventory management systems and national greenhouse gas inventory of Armenia was launched.

The cases on illegal cutting of trees were detected in the foresteries of “ArmForest” SNCO under the Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment. In particular, 9 cut trees were revealed in ''Hrazdan Forestry'' branch, 330 - in ''Artsvaberd Forestry'' branch, 142- in ''Yeghegnut Forestry'' branch, 49 - in ''Dsegh Forestry'' branch, 1-in “Ijevan Forestry'' branch and 4 - in ''Gyumri Forestry'' branch in the period of October.
Training workshop for organizations owning polychlorinated biphenyls
It took place the training wrkshop for organizations owning PCBs (polychlorinated bphenyls) on accounting, sampling and labeling of PCB-containing oils and equipment under “Regional Demonstration Project for Coordinated Management of ODS and POPs Disposal in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia” jointly implemented by the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

USD 2.5 million grant will be directed to vulnerable settlements and poor families
“Strengthening land based adaptation capacity in communities adjacent to protected areas in Armenia” grant project has been launched, which will be implemented in rural and urban settlements of 4 communities in Tavoush, Ararat and Lori regions. The USD 2.5 million grant will be directed to setting up of berry and fruit orchards, creation of solar irrigation pumps for thereof, construction of solar dryers and greenhouses, restoration of arable lands and pastures, rehabilitation of roads.
