TO THE ATTENTION OF NGOS AND PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES

The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia and the OECD jointly launched the work under the GREEN Action Task Force in January 2019. Within this framework an assessment of investment needs for climate action in the Republic of Armenia up to 2030 has been undertaken. 

Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan introduced newly appointed Deputy Ministers Tigran Simonyan and Anna Mazmanyan to the Ministry’s the staff 

Introducing Tigran Simonyan, Minister Petrosyan remarkably stressed the rich experience of the latter in the academic sphere, thus the Deputy Minister is ready to invest it in the development of the academic component of the environment with great dedication, especially in the direction of legislative field reforms and improvement of legal procedures.

Vacancy of International Expert

Under “Sectoral investment planning and comparative analysis of costs and benefits” component of the EU-funded “European Union for Environment” (EU4Environment) initiative, UNEP assists in assessing the investment needs for specific green growth areas/sectors which will help the country to identify national investment gaps and to provide recommendations for a financing strategy.
 

The materials on "MGHART GOLD MINE" were sent to the Prosecutor General's Office 

Today, on behalf of the Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, a note was sent to RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, which refers to a number of violations by "Multi” Group Concern LLC revealed during the exploitation of Mghart gold mine.
In particular, according to the information delivered  by the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources, “Multi” Group Concern LLC has been exploiting the mine since 2011 without a water use permit.

CONTAMINATED WHITE STORKS UNDER CARE

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment and the Inspectorate for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources , 11 volunteers and two non-governmental organizations (BirdLinks Armenia AND PEES) continue to protect  and take care of the storks that were contaminated in June-July of this year.

Тhe Green Climate Fund (GCF) Secretariat has approved the Readiness Proposal for the Republic of Armenia, with the Armenian Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund (R2E2 Fund) as the delivery partner

The above-mentioned proposal was approved for the amount of USD 254,007 for “Readiness Support for accreditation gap assessment, capacity building and pipeline development for potential accredited entity.”
