Near threatened species. Endemic of South Transcaucasia. It is distributed on almost the whole territory of Armenia, but the area of distribution is fragmented. The extent of occurrence is 9965 km2, the area of occupancy is 68 km2, number of locations is 10. As ornamental species it is collected for bouquets. It was included in the first edition of the Red Data Book of Armenia as Iris prilipkoana Kem.–Nath. under Category 3: Reducing species. Taking into consideration wide distribution of the species on the territory of Armenia the category of threat has been downgraded to NT. It is not included in the Annexes of CITES and that of the Bern Convention.
