On February 16 of this year, "EU for the environment.  within the framework of the "water resources and environmental data" program, the initial workshop for the development of the Northern Water Basin Management Plan was held in Lori Marz.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the schedule and methodology for the development of the water basin management plan, to present the expert team involved in the process, as well as to initiate a dialogue with the interested structures and representatives of the water basin area to ensure the participatory process of the plan development.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Environment, the EU delegation in Armenia, other interested ministries and agencies, Lori and Tavush governorates, local self-government bodies, the expert community in the water sector and "EU for the environment.  more than 35 representatives of the "water resources and environmental data" project.
Lilit Abrahamyan, head of the water policy department of the Ministry of Environment, and Andrea Bagioli, the program manager of the cooperation department of the EU delegation in Armenia, made a welcome speech at the workshop.
An effective discussion and exchange of ideas regarding the existing issues, pressures and approaches to reduce their impacts in the watershed area has taken place.
The participants of the workshop emphasized the regular holding of such public consultative meetings.
