It is proposed to extend the privilege period of the license for the import and alienation of vehicles operating with an electric motor

At the special sitting convened on December 3, the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs discussed in the first reading the draft law "On Making Addendum to the RA Tax Code" authored by the Government.
RA Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan noted that the draft law proposes to extend the the privilege period of the import and alienation of exclusively electric vehicles - large, medium and small buses, passenger vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds until January 1, 2024. In parallel with the privilege defined by the Tax Code, currently by the decision of the OSCE, until December 31, 2021, the taxes of import duties for electric vehicles have been zeroed.
The Deputy Minister noted that after the entry into force of the privilege defined by the Tax Code on July 1, 2019, a favorable environment has been created in the country for the acquisition of electric vehicles and the development of the necessary infrastructure for their operation.
From July 1, 2019 to July 1, 2021, about 5291 vehicles with electric motors were imported to Armenia, about 45 charging stations were installed and operated.
"Currently, The Environmental Projects Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Environment has launched the "Transition Towards Electronic Vehicles in Armenia "grant program, within the framework of which it is planned to purchase more than a dozen electric cars and charging stations for the Government," the Deputy Minister said.
The Commission gave a positive conclusion to the draft law.
